Prof. Mark F. Schultz

Professor Schultz is the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company Endowed Chair in IP Law at the University of Akron School of Law, where he directs the IP Center, including its Global Trade Secret Institute. His research focuses on the law and economics of the global IP system, particularly on trade secret law. Working with the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, he co-authored a groundbreaking global trade secret protection index (the TSPI). Professor Schultz also co-chairs a public-private multilateral diplomatic dialogue on best practices in drafting and implementing national trade secret laws. After graduating with honors from the George Washington University School of Law, he clerked for Federal Circuit Judge Daniel Friedman and Judge Eric Bruggink of the U.S. Court of Federal Claims. He then practiced law for a decade, serving as outside general counsel to several startups and helping companies to expand their businesses and commercialize their IP in dozens of countries.
