Dr. Christian Schröder
Christian heads Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe’s European Privacy Advisory Team and counsels on privacy and cyber matters, with a focus on cross-Atlantic matters. Christian helps clients build privacy compliance programs, drafts and negotiates data transfer and processing agreements, regularly handles multijurisdictional data breaches and defends clients in investigations before local supervisory authorities. Christian’s core focus is on international matters, and as such, he regularly advises clients on data disclosures in the U.S., before courts and supervisory authorities. Christian and his practice are ranked by The Legal 500 Germany and The Legal 500 EMEA as well as Best Lawyers for being among the leading German and European IT and data privacy practices since 2018. Christian studied at the Universities of Bonn and Kiel where he earned his PhD with a thesis comparing the enforceability of privacy policies and binding corporates rules in the U.S. and Germany for which also won the Academic Data Protection Award DAFTA in 2007. Christian is a member of The Sedona Conference Working Groups 6 and 11. |
