Karen Mitchell
Karen S. Mitchell has served as U.S. District Clerk for the Northern District of Texas since June 2000. Prior to joining the federal judiciary, Karen managed insurance and risk management programs for the University of Texas System and the Texas A&M University System and was a hearing examiner for the Texas Workers’ Compensation Commission. Karen is on the Executive Policy Committee of the DFW Federal Executive Board and is former Chair of the Board. She has served on several judiciary working groups, including the Electronic Public Access Working Group and the Work Measurement Subcommittee, and as faculty for Federal Judicial Center programs. She is currently a member of the federal judiciary’s District Clerks Advisory Group, Financial Managers Working Group, and Judiciary Design Guide Working Group. She is also President of the national Federal Court Clerks Association. Ms. Mitchell received the ACU Young Alumnus of the Year award in 2003, the Federal Employee of the Year award from the DFW Federal Executive Board in 2011, and the Federal Court Clerks Association’s Angie Award in 2015. |
