Hon. Elizabeth S. ("Betsy") Chestney
U.S. Magistrate Judge Betsy Chestney sits in the Western District of Texas. Prior to taking the bench, she was managing partner of an Austin-based employment-law firm. Before private practice, she clerked for a federal district judge in Austin. Currently, Judge Chestney is an Adjunct Professor of Law at the University of Texas School of Law, where she teaches a class to prepare students to serve as federal law clerks. Before private practice and after clerking, she was a full-time faculty member at UT Law. Judge Chestney earned her undergraduate degree in Biomedical Ethics from Brown University, her J.D. with honors from UT Law, and her LLM in Judicial Studies from Duke Law. She has been elected to ALI, served on FBA Boards and the national section and chapter level, and is a Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation. Judge Chestney is board-certified in Labor and Employment Law. |
