Steven represents clients on all aspects of intellectual property controversies, and is partner-in-charge of McDermott Will & Emery’s Houston office. He focuses his practice on patent, trade secret, and other technology-related litigation involving diverse technologies including the chemical, biotechnology, telecommunications, and oilfield services industries. He has litigated such matters in numerous U.S. jurisdictions and arbitration proceedings, and has assisted in many parallel foreign actions. In addition to litigation matters, he counsels clients in inter partes reviews, intellectual property enforcement, freedom to operate, and licensing issues. Steven is a former officer and director of the Houston Intellectual Property Lawyers Association, a member of the American Intellectual Property Law Association, and a member of the Sedona Conference Working Group (10) on Patent Litigation, and co-editor of the Group’s chapter on the management of discovery in patent litigation. He received his J.D., cum laude, from the University of Texas School of Law, and his B.A. in chemistry, cum laude, from Rice University.
