Peter is a senior counsel with Crowell & Moring, where he works with clients to address a wide variety of privacy, data security, and consumer protection issues. Peter previously served as the Federal Trade Commission’s Chief Privacy Officer and Senior Agency Official for Privacy, after working as an Assistant Director in the Bureau of Consumer Protection Director’s Office, where he coordinated consumer protection investigations and litigation for the FTC’s eight regional offices, and as an attorney in the Division of Advertising Practices, where he investigated and litigated deceptive health and weight-loss claims. Before joining the FTC, Peter was a commercial litigator with the Department of Justice, and he started his legal career as an associate with Miller & Chevalier in Washington, DC. Peter is a member of, and holds privacy certifications from, the International Association of Privacy Professionals (CIPM, CIPP/G/US, CIPT).
