Richard G. Braman graduated summa cum laude from the University of Minnesota in 1975, then magna cum laude from the University of Minnesota Law School in 1978. He went on to become licensed as an attorney in Minneapolis and California, serving for decades at Gray, Plant, Mooty, Mooty & Bennett with a specialization in antitrust law and complex business litigation.

He spent much of his career there before founding The Sedona Conference, a nonpartisan, nonprofit charitable 501(c)(3) research and educational institute dedicated to the advanced study of law and policy in the areas of antitrust law, complex litigation, intellectual property rights, and data security and privacy law. Richard would also invest much of his time into his love of jazz and music, opening the jazz club Gabriels at St. Anthony Main in Minneapolis.

This scholarship honors his legacy by supporting the next generation of intellectual property lawyers with a preference for a student with a background in the performing arts. It’s a melding of his interests, supporting a law student as cosmopolitan as Richard Braman was.

Please honor Richard’s memory by contributing to the
Richard G. Braman '78 Memorial Scholarship Fund!
