WG11 Town Hall: DHS Chief Counsel Briefing on Cybersecurity Initiatives

Date:
Wednesday, June 30, 2021 - 1:00pm to 2:30pm

The Steering Committee of Working Group 11 on Data Security and Privacy Liability (WG11) invites all Sedona Working Group Series (WGS) members to an open “town hall” meeting on Wednesday, June 30, at 1 p.m. EDT.

Over the past several months, we have seen some of the most serious cybersecurity incidents in history. There has also been a wide range of U.S. government action in recent months which addresses this cybersecurity threat landscape. Daniel Sutherland, the Chief Counsel for CISA (the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency), will join us in this town hall to give an overview of these initiatives, including:

  • Executive Order 14028, “Improving the Nation’s Cybersecurity”
  • Eleven provisions enhancing CISA’s authorities and responsibilities included in The National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2021
  • $650 million for cybersecurity improvements included in The American Rescue Plan Act of 2021

Immediately following Dan’s briefing, WG11 Steering Committee Chair Doug Meal of Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe will moderate a dialogue with Dan and all members about these developments.
