Please join us for a special WG6 membership-building event at the Brussels offices of Crowell & Moring LLP, on Wednesday, 15 May, from 5:30 – 8:30 pm. Organizations and practitioners are increasingly facing the conflict between (1) demands for personal data in various investigatory contexts such as dawn raids or merger investigations and (2) their obligation to protect the rights of the data subjects whose data they hold. A distinguished panel of WG6 members and expert representatives of the European Commission will lead a dialogue on this tension between investigatory demands and data protection compliance, and guidance from the European Data Protection Board, European Data Protection Supervisor, and WG6 (such as the International Investigations Principles).
The event is being hosted by Jeane Thomas of Crowell & Moring. Joining Jeane on the panel and leading the dialogue are co-moderators Natascha Gerlach of Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP and Cecilia Álvarez of Facebook, as well as Alexandros Papanikolaou (DG Competition) and Ralf Sauer (DG Justice) of the European Commission.
The event is a WG6 membership-building event, so we will also discuss the mission of WG6; activities of WG6, including drafting efforts and upcoming events; and the benefits of joining WG6.
Non-members in attendance that are interested in becoming WG6 members will receive a $100 USD discount for the first year of their Working Group Series (WGS) membership. WGS membership is in-for-one, in-for-all. Once a WGS member, one is eligible to become a member and take part in the activities of all Working Groups, including WG6.
