Date:
Monday, June 19, 2017 - 10:00pm to Wednesday, June 21, 2017 - 5:00pm
Location:
Carton House estate
Co Kildare
Ireland

The Sedona Conference will hold the 9th Annual International Programme on Cross-Border Discovery & Data Protection Laws in County Kildare, Ireland, on 20-21 June 2017. The focus for 2017 will be to bring clarity to the uncertainty surrounding data protection developments in Europe and the rest of the world, and the impact of these developments on cross-border transfers of data for litigation and investigations. Through the use of our unique, dialogue-based format, leading regulators, jurists, corporate counsel, outside counsel and service providers will exchange ideas and continue to develop practical guidance that helps practitioners across the globe navigate the evolving data protection landscape, including: the new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which becomes fully effective in May 2018; the new "EU-U.S. Privacy Shield" agreement, which took effect in July 2016; the effects of the Stored Communications Act (SCA) cases (Microsoft and Google); and recent data protection developments in APAC, South America & the Middle East.

Unlike other continuing legal education programmes, all faculty members are present for the entire Programme and participate in all aspects of the Programme. The format involves dialogue not only among faculty members, but also with the Programme participants, who are invited and encouraged to contribute their comments and perspectives to the dialogue.

The Programme is by invitation only to ensure a proper balance of participants and is limited in size to ensure that we have an intimate environment for meaningful dialogue.

The Programme will be held at the historic Carton House, located approximately 18 miles from the Dublin airport and approximately 14 miles from Dublin City Centre. It is situated on an 1,100 acre private estate which has remained intact since it was first acquired by the FitzGerald family in 1170, following the Norman conquest of Dublin. It is an ideal setting for The Sedona Conference think tank experience.

We have secured highly favorable Group Rates of EUR 210 single, EUR 235 twin BB, per night on a limited block of Superior or House Deluxe rooms at Carton House for the evenings of 19 - 20 June 2017. The group rate also is available for the three days preceding (16-18 June) and the three days following the Programme (21-23 June), but completely subject to room availability because there is no room block for these nights.

Complete hotel reservation information will be provided with your Programme registration confirmation email. Accordingly, you should submit an application for the Programme as soon as possible, so we can consider your application and extend you an invitation to participate in the Programme in a timely fashion.

A meet-and-greet reception will be held at the hotel the evening before the Programme begins, Monday, 19 June, from 18:00 to 20:00.

Please note that a separate meeting for Working Group 6 (WG6) members will be held in the afternoon of 21 June, following the conclusion of the international programme, in the same meeting room, from 14:00 - 17:30. If you are a WG6 member who would like to attend the WG6 members-only meeting, please indicate this during the application process by checking the box signifying that you plan to attend.

In addition, on the morning of 22 June, from 9:00-13:00 at the offices of Matheson in Dublin, there will be a meeting limited to corporate counsel and Sedona leadership to discuss and benchmark cross-border transfer best practices in a more relaxed and informal setting. This intimate forum will allow for a discussion of issues of specific importance to in-house counsel. If you are invited to participate in the programme, the organizers of this meeting will contact you separately with more details.

Please submit your application as soon as possible. We hope to see you in Ireland.
